Gap Year

There are still opportunities for students who want to take a short volunteer experience this summer to apply; anything from two to 12 weeks. Some students are looking for, or need, to stretch their wings before Uni or other training, and this is the perfect way to do that. Or students can do a longer gap experience in 2019, there are a range of options.

There are a range of scholarships for students looking to get some additional support for their volunteer experience. Turn around time for scholarship applications is less than two weeks, so students can plan more effectively. Just click either the website link or image below.

If you have any questions about Go Kiwi Go volunteer experiences, please email info-newzealand@afs.org  or call 0800 600 300.

PURE EXPLORATION ADVENTURE GUIDE INTERNSHIP

We are looking for a limited number of students to join us for our Adventure Guide Internship program based in Queenstown commencing April 2018

Participants will embark on a remarkable 12 week journey of learning, experiences and coaching – in the classroom and predominantly in NZ’s diverse and spectacular outdoors, focusing on individual skills and group leadership.

They will gain world-recognised New Zealand outdoor guiding qualifications, and on completion will be placed in some incredible front-line adventure tourism roles based in Queenstown – working for companies involved with jet-boating, climbing, hiking, bungy jumping and much more.
This program is a well-constructed stepping stone into the adventure tourism industry as a guide, but also is the perfect GAP year option – offering qualifications and adventure all in one – perfect for the student who has not quite decided what is the next step.

Do you have students who want to develop their outdoor and adventure skills?

Do they want to take the first step to joining the adventure tourism industry?

Or simply want a year off study doing something constructive with their life?

We can help!

WHY PURE EXPLORATION?

We know that starting to travel is a big step, so our programs are developed to be all-inclusive – travel, activities, accommodation and meals are all provided so our interns can simply arrive and know that all the complicated stuff is covered and they can focus on having fun!

Our aim is to help young people develop all the skills necessary to attack their goals in life and have confidence to move forward into their next level of education or employment.
WANT TO FIND OUT MORE?
If you have any students who would like to know more about our program, they can email us here for more information.

It’s hard to believe it’s term 4 already! We just wanted to remind students about GKG. For those who aren’t sure what next year holds, perhaps a gap year, or volunteer experience, anything from two to 24 weeks, might be the answer.

GKG has life changing opportunities and we also offer a Global Competence Certificate (GCC) as part of the experience, which not only develops an understanding of other cultures, but is great for a CV.

Our volunteer experiences are so much more than a holiday, people really get to immerse and experience another culture, while helping a local community. The experiences we provide ensure you’re in a safe environment with like-minded people, ready to be part of a positive local project in one of our diverse locations.

Rose spent time in Nepal and says, “Nepal now holds a large part of my heart and I’m counting down the months until I can re-visit and see all the children and my friends again!”

Not everyone is sure what to do at the end of Year 13, GKG gives young people another option. If you need to know more, please email jordana.zhu@afs.org or click on the website link below.

And….it’s not just for students, GKG is for anyone over 18!
